Tom Donaldson, President
In addition to serving as the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS) chief executive officer, Tom Donaldson works with the executive committee to formulate the organization's strategic plan and legislative priorities. He has extensive experience in social marketing, curriculum development, public policy and media relations. He is a member of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Center for Excellence Steering Committee and a liaison representative to the National Task Force on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Effect. He also serves on many maternal/child health and alcohol-related policy boards and committees, including the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition Executive Committee and the National Association of Broadcasters Alcohol Policy Advisory Board. |
Kathleen Tavenner Mitchell, M.H.S., L.C.A.D.C., Vice President and National Spokesperson
Kathy Mitchell is a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor with nearly 20 years of experience as an educator, clinician and lecturer in the addictions field. In addition to being a noted international speaker on FASD, she was appointed to the National Task Force on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Effect by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. She has provided testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives and collaborated with the producers of NBC's "Law and Order" to feature a show on fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). She also has shared her personal story of raising a daughter with FAS for use in documentaries, educational videos and media such as Glamour Magazine, NBC's "Real Life" and the "Later Today Show." She also has authored the NOFAS handbook, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: A Guidebook for Parents and Caregivers.
Kathy conducts workshops and provides lectures on the addictive disease process, prevention of FASD, screening and assessment of women at risk, addressing secondary disabilities and many other FASD-related topics.

Erin Frey, MD, Program Director
Dr. Frey is currently the Program Director for the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS). Dr. Frey earned her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Her previous work includes a project on hypertension in South Africa conducted at the National Institutes of Health and participation in two international health initiatives. She was involved in the development and implementation of a strategic organizational plan to fun free clinics in rural communities in Honduras and initiated a health study program for U.S. medical students in rural Kenya. Dr. Frey also participated in research conducted at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. aimed at understanding safety supervision and child rearing practices of inner city parents. Her current projects include the NOFAS-Children’s Research Triangle (CRT) Health Resources and Services Administration Community Health Center Initiative, the Centers for Disease Control’s NOFAS K-12 Curriculum, Community Outreach, and the NOFAS Clearinghouse and Distribution Center. Dr. Frey also has experience in the addiction field and provides lectures on women and addiction, FASD, screening women for addictive disorders and the disease process of addiction.

Bri Montgomery, Program Associate
Bri currently works as a Program Associate at the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS). She earned her BAS in Community Health Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Her main area of expertise at NOFAS is working with the NOFAS Clearinghouse and the K-12 FASD Education and Prevention Curriculum. Her previous experience in the non-profit health world includes working as a health education intern for Healthy Teen Network and as a volunteer health educator at Planned Parenthood. She is passionate about helping others and advocating for FASD prevention and support of persons with FASD.
